CREATE 2010: The girl from the south explores the north

By Sabine Salzmann

Wednesday morning: 4 am ... piep, piep - what an annoying noise? piep, piep - just 5 more minutes, PLEASE! But, wait! Today is no working day, it`s a day of travelling. So get up Sabine and start your journey!

Carrying the luggage I walk kind of remote controlled to the train station. The train brings me to Vienna - Autrias capital city. From there I start my flying-marathon. Since I am not used to fly, I am very excited to get all things done in the right time! I have more flights on one day than summed up all from my last years!
Being on the plane I start reading the printed descriptions from the CREATE 2010. It says "young researchers have the unique possibility to learn and improve their skills in creative thinking". That sounds promising. How will this goal be achieved? I have absoluteley no idea, but I will find it out - very soon! "Dear passengers, thank you for flying with Staralliance ..."

Being on the airport in Copenhagen, waiting for the next flight, I decide to do some window shopping. As time goes by the word "window" is gone. At least I had the will to just look! Girls :-) Luckily the nice female speaker at the airport prevents my credit card from being used to heavily! "Passengers of flight xxxx, please ..." So, Sabine, hurry up!

Back in the air my endorphines from shopping were covered by thoughts about the CREATE program. Who will attend the program? Who are Europe`s young researchers? Will I fit to them? Fortunetely the short flight doesn`t give me so much time to worry. Besides, my body is a little bit reigned by tiredness ...

In Oslo the gate to the Scandinavic paradise opens very quickly since I have nothing to declare. Now it is 8.20 pm and the last flight for this day takes off.

The close distance to the final destination leads my thoughts again directly to the conference. How will I contribute to? Will I find some new friends?

Feeling my feet on solid ground, I take the bus to the hotel. Now it is really late in the evening but no darkness to tell my body to be tired. During the ride to the hotel an experienced participant of CREATE talks to me and distributes any uncertainity. At the end of the day I have at least one answer: Yes, I will definitely find some new friends. Then I fell asleep ...

Do you understand German?
